Boston away on a Tuesday night. Took about 2 hours to get there. I think for the past three seasons I have been there on a Tuesday night. Surely the league can sort out alternatives when it`s over an hour and a half midweek.

But I know numerous teams will have to do it, so we crack on. Liam Tuck and George Barnell were the two unavailable from the weekend. So new signing Jacob Ballinger and Max Johnson came into the line-up.

Football has a funny way of being seen in completely different ways when you are only a few yards apart.

We started well and were on top and in a blink of an eye through two mistakes we were 2-0 down. Two quickfire goals from them put them in a strong position when we had dominated up to that point. The lads stuck at it and continued to control and got a deserved goal just before half time.

Second half more of the same, skipper Josh Melling stupidly got sin sinned around 60 minutes, but Boston didn’t really trouble us in that period. We equalised through a penalty when Matty Long was bowled over by their left back, blatant penalty. Haydn Price smashed it in with confidence after missing one at weekend.

We pushed for the winner and had opportunities through Lloyd Buckby and a couple through Ryan Lovell, which on another night they would have been buried.

Boston boss Gary Edgley and his side were fuming about a couple of potential hand balls towards the end. But I am unsure about them to be honest, I believe the rule to be that the hand has to be in a ‘unnatural position’ and from what I saw in both instances the lads had their hands down by their side. But what do I know.

I thought our boys were brilliant and actually were by far the better side. Like I said funny that the two sides see things so different. But that’s football! Gary mentioned in his ‘interview’ they were in control. I don’t think they were ever in control and I felt we bossed the majority of the game. We had more of the ball and more chances and should have won. But I would have taken a draw before the game and certainly at 2-0 down.

The lads did great to keep sticking to their guns and plugging away after switching off for 5 mins out of the 90 for their two goals. For 85 minutes we played probably the best we have since before Xmas.

Trip back was a laugh and getting into bed at 1am was easier with a positive performance and a point.

Tough game away at Anstey who are very much in-form side, but we go there with confidence.
